Mental Wellness Basics

June 9, 2022 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm

FREE

Mental health is something we all have but not all of us know how to address. This workshop is designed to teach people what they never learned in school about the basics of how to feel okay, build resilience, and develop the capacity for coping with difficulty when it comes their way. This engaging 90 minute presentation will help participants learn what mental wellness is, how to achieve and maintain mental wellness, and how to support others in that process. Information about resources in the community will also be included.

Gaelen Engler, SWLC is a therapist at Sweetgrass Psychological Services and a skier and rock climber. She is deeply passionate about the community of the Flathead Valley and helping all individuals find satisfaction and passion in life. Gaelen trained at the University of Montana as a social worker and is currently completing her post-Master’s training hours. Gaelen specializes in working with couples and individuals on their paths to mental health. Gaelen understands, from personal experience, the value of self-compassion and the challenges we all face in treating ourselves as well as we treat others. Gaelen is a founding member of the Northwest Montana Climber’s Coalition.

Sara Boilen, PsyD., is the founder of Sweetgrass Psychological Services and has lived in the Flathead for nearly twenty years. Over this time, she has become passionate about helping break down the stigma surrounding mental illness in our community by making mental healthcare affordable, accessible, and available. She started Well Montana when she realized that so many people were coming to Sweetgrass to learn basic strategies for coping with life. She earned a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Denver and specializes in forensic psychology, assessments, and ethics. She sits on the Montana Board of Psychology and the Whitefish Housing Authority. Dr. Boilen is also an avalanche educator and member of the SheJumps nonprofit board of directors.
