Flathead Valley is composed of many unique communities in close proximity. Nearby communities located around the Valley include Kalispell, Whitefish, Columbia Falls, Bigfork and Lakeside. Several highways connect the communities while the Burlington Northern-Santa Fe runs through Whitefish with spurs in Columbia Falls and Kalispell. Amtrak serves the Valley running through Glacier Park and on to Chicago to the east and from Whitefish to Seattle to the west.
Glacier National Park Airport is conveniently located in the center of the Valley. For a community of its size, the area enjoys an exceptionally large number of direct flights to major hubs. This makes it an ideal home base for telecommuters working for companies headquartered in larger cities. The airport is also served by Glacier Jet Center for private aircraft.
US 93 bisects the Valley and intersects 110 miles south with I-90 in Missoula.
